São Miguel Island

Welcome to the green island- São Miguel! During my traveling in Portugal, I have taken the opportunity to visit this unbelievable island.

São Miguel Island is the largest island of the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores.

Two and a half hours flight from Portugal, and you are in this wild tropical island.

To travel in the island, you better rent a car during your stay. With a car you can actually explore the entire island. In addition, driving through the island it's experience for itself. This endless green view and the blue flowers along the road are a real magic.

Santa Barbara Beach

Centre of Caldeira Velha

If you imagine wild hot springs in the middle of the green nature, this is Caldeira Velha.

In the middle of this jungle views, there are few natural hot springs, each of them in a different temperature as you wish at the moment. Sometimes, hot springs are overrated, but this place is a dream come true. Just relax in this beautiful gift from nature.

Furnas

Furnas also known for its hot springs. The village town of Furnas is stunningly picturesque and its nature. With the entrance to Furnas you can already smell the water gazers and feel this warm steam in the air. All this beauty surrounded by the endless green views of the island.

Lagoa do fogo

If you are not convinced yet that São Miguel Island is one of the most beautiful wild nature, this lagoon will do the job. At the top of the mountain, through a stunning road, this unbelievable lagoon is hidden. In 20 minutes of hiking, you will arrive to one of the most beautiful places Iv'e ever seen. There is no words or pictures that can describe this wonder of nature.

Whale Watching

As São Miguel Island located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, the wild creatures are all around. In few minutes sailing into the deep, a plenty of species are shown. If you are lucky, you can see dolphins, whales, turtles and maybe even more surprises.

This ocean is extremely wild and surprising.

Mosteiros Beach

The best spot in the island to see the sunset. A small bay with the beautiful volcanic sand and view of volcanic stones in the ocean. And of course, this beach is surrounded by the green color of the island. What else?

If you want to get a little bit tropical but stay close to Europe, this island is the perfect location for you.
